FAQ
Can I still get a loan with Bad credit or a low credit score?
Yes, it’s still possible. Credit history is only one of the things we look at. If your situation has improved, and you can afford the repayments, we could still be able to help.
What if I have been turned down by a bank or other lender?
We regularly help customers who have been turned away by other lenders. We have a team of real people who look past credit scores and who look at your full situation.
Are the loans secured or unsecured?
We offer bad credit loans as both secured and unsecured. Some loans, and loan amounts, will need security. Our team are here to guide you through the options.
How much can I Borrow
We offer personal loans from $500 to $50,000; the amount will depend on your individual situation and the repayments you can afford to make.
Can I apply if I’m on a benefit?
Yes. We welcome applications from people receiving a benefit. Your ability to repay the loan is assessed based on your overall financial situation.
Can I get a debt consolidation loan with bad credit in NZ?
Yes, it's possible. We don't turn people away just because of a bad credit history — a default, a missed payment or a judgment on your file isn't an automatic no. We'll look at your income, your expenses and what's changed since, then work out whether combining your debts into one Instant Finance loan is a responsible option for your situation.
How does consolidating debt help my credit score?
Consolidating on its own doesn't fix a credit score — it's what happens afterwards that counts. Instead of juggling several repayments across different due dates (where it's easy to slip up), you've got one regular repayment to stay on top of. Making that payment consistently, on time, is one of the best things you can do to help your credit history recover over time.
What debts can I consolidate if I have bad credit?
Most unsecured debts can potentially be rolled together — think credit cards, store cards, hire purchases, buy now pay later balances, overdrafts, and other personal loans. Having a default or judgment elsewhere on your file doesn't automatically rule these out; we'll just take a closer look at your full situation before making a decision.
