What can dental finance cover?

Dental finance is a personal loan you use for dental care. You can put it towards most treatments, such as:

  • fillings and extractions, including wisdom teeth

  • root canals and crowns

  • implants, bridges and dentures

  • braces and other orthodontic work

  • teeth whitening and veneers

  • a dental bill you've already been sent

Interest rates and fees

Your interest rate is personalised. It's based on things like your circumstances, your credit history, how much you borrow and the length of the loan.

Dental loan calculator

Before you apply, have a play with our loan calculator. Try a few amounts and terms, then compare the repayment with what's left in your budget each week once the bills are paid.

Tips before you borrow

  • Get a written quote that covers every step, like the crown that often follows a root canal.

  • Choose a dentist and a lender you trust, with a good track record.

  • Read the terms and conditions so you know exactly what you're signing up for.

  • Use the calculator to check the repayments fit your budget.

How to apply

  1. Apply online in a few minutes, or call us on 0800 760 000.

  2. Share your bank statements online through a secure link, so we can check the loan fits your budget.

  3. Verify your photo ID online: a driver licence or passport, or a Kiwi Access Card (the old 18+ card) with your birth certificate. Don't have it with you? You can supply it later, online or in person.

  4. If you're approved, sign your loan documents online and the money goes straight into your bank account.

Most people never need to visit a branch. If you don't live near one, our team will look after you over the phone.

You need to be 18 or over and a New Zealand citizen or resident, or hold an eligible work visa.

Dental finance questions

Can I get a loan for dental work?

Yes. You can use a personal loan from us for most dental treatment, from an urgent extraction to implants or braces. We'll check the repayments fit your budget before we lend, so approval isn't guaranteed.

How quickly can I get the money for urgent dental treatment?

Many people apply and have their money within 24 hours, so urgent treatment can often go ahead quickly. We can't guarantee it every time, because we still need to check the loan fits your budget. If you're in serious pain, don't wait on finance: call your dentist or an after-hours dentist straight away.

How much can I borrow for dental treatment?

You can borrow from $500 to $50,000. How much you can borrow depends on your income, your expenses and any other debts, and we'll only lend what you can comfortably repay.

How long can I take to repay a dental loan?

Up to 7 years. A longer term means smaller repayments but more interest overall, so it's worth trying a few options in the loan calculator.

Can I get dental finance with bad credit?

Possibly. A past credit problem isn't an automatic no. We look at your whole situation, including how you're managing your money now. Find out more about bad credit loans.

Can I pay off my dental loan early?

Yes, you can pay your loan off early at any time. A small fee applies, and you can see it on our rates and fees page.
