Driving carefully down the country you’re going to come to our next branch, Whangarei. Opened a good 4 years before Kaikohe, Whangarei has in its time existed next to Whangarei Police station, had an Easy Driver/Instant Finance car yard on its forecourt and offered business loans to the local community.

Now it’s settled just down from the bus terminal in Vine Street in the heart of Whangarei. The branch is some distance from the river but is certainly in the busy, bustling shopping and entertainment centre of town. There are plenty of bars, clubs and retail shopping experiences surrounding the branch.

Whangarei is known as the City of a hundred beaches and it’s never further than 10 kilometres from a beach anywhere in the area. The Whangarei region is very popular for outdoor pursuits such as rugby, (Home of the mighty Taniwha) hockey, fishing and all forms of water sports.

The city is currently experiencing an uplift in art appreciation museums and galleries.

Famous Austrian/Kiwi artist and architect Friedensreich Hundertwasser who designed the famous and fabulous public toilets in Kawakawa now has an art centre opened in his honour at the “Hub” in Whangarei town basin and is worth checking out.
